DUBAI — Holders of international health insurance policies are not required to obtain local insurance policies for getting entry permits (new visit visas) in the emirate, Brigadier Obaid Mehayer bin Suroor, Acting Director of Dubai Naturalisation and Residency Department (DNRD), has said.
Bin Suroor's remark came on Monday during a meeting he held with officials of
free zones as part of the ongoing efforts to communicate the new visit visa
regulations and requirements to all private and public establishments.
According to Bin Suroor, the new rules stipulate that companies working under
the umbrella of free zones have to work out a mechanism for the health insurance
cover of their prospective employees and furnish the names of the beneficiaries
in individual or group applications. Only then they can submit their visa
applications to DNRD and have them approved and processed, he pointed out.
The Acting Director of DNRD confirmed that that the new system offers excellent
facilities to companies, especially government entities, which are required to
present a common undertaking for providing insurance cover to all their
prospective employees, instead of separate insurance covers for each.
The DNRD is officially informing all companies about the mechanism of financial
deposits as mentioned under the new entry and residency rules for foreigners.
